Name: SHARON MBIGOGender: maleAge: 4Ethnicity: kenyan

Meet Sharon, a humble and ever smiling girl, the 1 st born in a family of 2. Both her parents are alive but she stays with her mother because her father neglected her when she was 5 months old and remarried another woman, leaving the responsibilities and the family behind. The mother has to go round the village looking for casual jobs like washing dishes, digging other people’s farm, doing laundry in order to feed her family. Sharon is very passionate about school and wants to become a doctor when she grows up so as to help other kids and the community at large.

Despite the challenge she is going through, at school and at home she wants her dreams to come true. Sharon is in and out of school because of school fees that her mother cannot pay for her. During her free time she plays hide and seek with her friends at home and school. She also helps her mother doing the house chores like fetching firewood and washing dishes. They stay in a single room mud house. Her favorite color is pink and her favorite subjects are science and Kiswahili.

SNIPPET ON TACEP

TACEP has established itself in a rural community of Kaloleni Giriama, 2 hours north of Mombasa, Kenya. This is one area of Kenya that has a high number of orphaned children. The orphaned are mostly excommunicated from their communities due to death of their parents from AIDS, or the financial inability of their parents to look after them.
